Allegra's Garden Tea Party!

Me again! Twice in one week, I know! Soooo, I promised to share some pics of Allegra's 1st Birthday party held last weekend at Nanny G's in Melbourne (aka my Mum's house). It was a lovely day (despite the weather being a little on the cool side) and it was so nice to have our family and close friends help celebrate Allegra's special day! Rather than boring you with my words I'll let the pictures and their little captions speak for themselves... but brace yourself, because there are a heap of them! :)

I made these signs using paper and lettering from Spotlight.
My handmade invites! I first purchased this paper from
Catchy Crafts in Hornsby (NSW). Coincidentally, I then found
the same paper (used for signs) at Spotlight in Melbourne!
The party details were on the back and the guest's
names were written on the attached teabags.
I then hand cut all of the number ones and used
mounting tape so that they were slightly raised.
And again.
Allegra's gorgeous party outfit purchased from
the lovely Tami @ Snuggles of Love :)
The quality really is so beautiful...
And fit for a party princess!
My flower arrangements :)
Purchased from the Prahran Market.
Me and my big one year old!
The dessert table!
The set up in Nanny G's back garden :)
The cake! I was originally planning on making a teapot
shaped cake, however with so much else to
prepare I decided to play it safe by dressing up
my homemade, fondant covered choc mud cake!
I used this recipe- the bottom tier was made
from two 23cm cakes and the top tier
from one 15cm cake.
Teapot fromT2, fresh flowers from
Prahran Market and ribbon from Spotlight.
A combination of my white chocolate mud cupcakes and
classic cupcake recipe (used in my lemon curd cupcakes),
both with butter cream icing! Cake stand
and patty cases from Pink Frosting.
Mini Teacups! These were an absolute hit with the kiddies
and only took about 10 minutes to make a whole batch!
Get the recipe and instructions here!
Chocolate coated strawberries with handmade
flags using offcuts of paper from the invitations,
toothpicks and my trusty hot glue gun :)
Preparing the infamous rocky road :)
A closer look at the cupcakes :)
Chocolate bars, again, wrapped using the same
paper used for the invitations.
Lollies!
Coconut balls... yum!
Another view of the dessert table.
Buntings from Le Petit Party.
Bits and pieces.
Plastic cutlery from Spotlight, napkins,
plates &  cups from Pink Frosting
and table runner from Le Petit Party.
Lollies bought in bulk from
The Biggest Lolly Shop in the World.
For us big kids :)
This kept this kiddies entertained :)
Birthday Cake!
Popcorn boxes...
And lolly bags also from Pink Frosting!

Again, also from Pink Frosting.

Opening presents with Mummy...
AND Daddy :)
Hee hee... so gorgeous!
So there you have it, Allegra's 1st Birthday Party done and dusted! I still can't believe it's been and gone :( Is it too early to start thinking about her 2nd Birthday Party?! hee hee. Apologies if some of the photos are small or unclear (I really need to update my blogger template and layout) but I think I have covered most of the details in the little captions. If I have missed anything or if you have any questions please ask away :) x

When Sonja met Sally!

Ok, so it doesn't exactly have the same ring as When Harry met Sally, and there definitely wasn't one of us faking an orgasm in the middle of the restaurant hee hee but last night, Sonja (that's me!) met Sally! You might remember this unbelievable story I posted back in June (if you haven't already read it click here)! So after emailing, Facebooking and sms'ing each other for over a year, my blogging bestie (Sally from Once Daily Chic) and I finally got our acts together and organised a real life catch up! I was a little nervous as this was the first time my virtual world was to cross my real life world... but it turns out I had nothing to worry about! The night began with us both rocking up with almost identical bunches of flowers for each other (hee hee) and after some bubbles and wine, a lovely meal, and not even one awkward silence,  it ended four hours later with us practically being kicked out of the restaurant so they could close! :) And the best part? Sally is exactly how I thought she would be, true to the persona she portrays on her blog. Lovely, gorgeous, down to earth, fun and extremely easy to talk to! I'm sure we'll be doing it all again very soon. Anyway, I thought some of you might enjoy that happy ending. And here's a pic of the two of us! :)

Me and Sal! :)
And a big thank-you again to Sally for picking such a lovely venue for our first meet! We wined and dined with a gorgeous table overlooking the water at the Public Dining Room in Balmoral. Not only is the food and atmosphere delightful but the modern, Scandinavian inspired interior makes it all the more enjoyable! Fellow Sydneysiders, be sure to check it out! x

Wow. I cannot believe it has been 2 months since I have posted! Thanks so very much to those who have emailed over the weeks letting me know they miss my posts as it has given me a kick up the bum to attempt to get back into blogging! Please know that I haven't been sitting here twiddling my thumbs.. and I know I sound like a broken record... but it HAS been a busy three months...

Allegra and I have had a total of 10 flights (Sydney- Melbourne return x4, Sydney- Brisbane x1, Brisbane- Melbourne x1 and somewhere amongst that Mr B spent an entire month in London!

We have had celebrations galore including my brother's engagement party, my cousin's wedding, Allegra's 1st Birthday, Christmas, News Years, my brother-in-laws 40th, our 2nd wedding anniversary, Australia Day, a close friends wedding, Valentines Day AND my best friends 30th.

Somewhere in between I am slowly but surely making our new place in Sydney home (although we have been living here for 6 months... already)! AND I am excited to say that my vision is starting to come together and I promise I WILL share with you all when I feel it is presentable (and when I get some proper snaps as it's not the easiest house to photograph)!

But for today (and to bring you fully up to date) I thought I would take the easy way out and post a heap of photos of the celebrations mentioned above taken whilst AWOL... oooh, and I am sure you will be shocked to see how much our darling Allegra has grown! Quite the little lady indeed! Although I will hold off on posting too many recent photos of her as I will post her 15 month update next week! :)

My gorgeous Mum and I at my brother's
engagement party held in Melbourne in November.
Allegra and I all frocked up for my cousin's
wedding in Brisbane also in November!
And here's Allegra with my Mum (aka Nanny G).
How sweet are these homemade, personalised gingerbread men
made by the groom's Grandma! They doubled as the
bonbonniere AND the name place settings :)
Christmas morning @ Mum's place :)
Like mother like daughter... Allegra and I
enjoying opening some pressies together :)
As always, spoilt by Mr B :)
Our Christmas angel :)
A quick family snap before hubby and I head
out to dine at one of our fav restaurants (Rockpool)
to celebrate my brother-in-laws 40th Birthday!
Mum spotted this dress in a shop window
when we were Christmas shopping and
insisted it was for me! :)
And this Tilkah clutch Mum bought me for
Chrissy tied in with my outfit perfectly :)
Mr B & his big brother, the Birthday boy!
A knock at the door revealed a special delivery...
From Mr B for our 2nd Wedding Anniversary! :)
Frocked up once again for our
dear friends wedding.
We had such an amazing time drinking and
dancing the night away... probably the most I have
kicked up my heels since pre-pregnancy!
And this grin is for no designated driver :)
The gorgeous and delicious cake!
And lastly, here is hubby and I ready for
an early Valentines Day din dins at the
restaurant we married in just over two years ago :)
And here's me wearing my V day present...
this divine dress which I LOVE!
One happy Valentine :)
So there you go. I bet you're sick of my ugly mug now! hee hee

Now that I have given you a debrief of what's been happening in my world, I can shift my focus to returning next week with some home decor dedicated posts! About flippin time you say! Thanks again for sticking with me through my absence my friends :}

Have a beautiful weekend :) x

Liar liar!

Ahhh, trust Blogger to make a liar out of me! I logged into my account the day after my last post (honouring my vow to make a return to regular blogging) only to be greeted with a message that my computer software no longer supported my Blogger account! Nooooo!!!

I was well overdue to replace my four year old Sony Vaio anyway (especially seeing as Mr B dropped it last month which resulted in a cracked screen) so I guess this was just the kick up the backside I needed to finally upgrade! Soooo I am sitting here typing this (very happily!) on my brand spanking new MacBook Pro :)

Please give me a few days to find my way around the different set up as well as move some of my files across from my old laptop... but after that, I'm all yours! Have a great w/e! x

Allegra Isobel Bouw is 15 months old!!!

The months are just flying by, I cannot believe our darling Allegra Isobel is 15 months old! It's been a whole three months since my last 'Allegra update' and gosh has she grown! What can I tell you?! She is certainly a real character our little miss, winning hearts everywhere she goes. She never shuts up (seriously) and her speaking is already so developed for her age. She loves to dance (which you will see in a little clip below) and adores her books. Her love for cheese continues and she would eat it all day long if I let her! Allegra loves shopping and already knows how to swipe a credit card (*cough cough ~ this is not something I am proud of :o) and boy can she charm the shop assistants! She now gives the biggest and best cuddles and is already demonstrating true compassion. Allegra has established herself as a Mummy girl (I'm sure this will change  once she masters the art of manipulating her father her her) which has resulted in a handful of nights where Mr B has been kicked out of his own bed... literally hee hee. Allegra Isobel, you are my everything. My darling, my daughter, my friend. And I love you so very very much. Here are a handful of updated pics for those of you who have missed this beautiful face that lights up my each and every day :)
Cheeky cheeky :)
Pooped after a trip to Ikea!
Up to no good again...

Around the house!

Hi there! Whilst I'm not even close to feeling like our home is presentable enough to share with you all, I do feel I owe you a few little updates! You might remember this post from back in November... well as you will see below, I decided on both the cushions I was considering, although I ended up going with the Schumacher Summer Palace cushions in charcoal rather than navy blue. I must say I adore them both! AND as I had hoped, they both tie in with the curtains you may remember me whinging and moaning about :}

You can purchase the Shumacher Summer Palace in
charcoal from here and the Chiang Mai Dragon in
aquamarine here. Both Etsy sellers were a dream to work
with and both products are just beautiful!
 I couldn't be happier :)
I have been wanting to purchase both of these
Papillon Butterfly prints for too long now!

I particularly LOVE this green one with a hint of
turquoise and think both will tie in perfectly with
the above new cushions :) My mission this
week has been trying to find the perfect frames!
You can purchase both from the lovely and
super talented Kerri @ Driftwood Interiors.

Now, moving onto the master bedroom... you might also remember this post where I thought I had narrowed it down to a couple of cushion combos. Well, after spending a little more time browsing through Etsy (the best place to purchase cushions in my opinion!) I fell in love with a fabric that I considered fresh, funky, fun and a touch feminine (with the bold floral print) and my mind was made up. I am still umping and ahhing about whether or not to team these with a pop of colour at the back but here are the gorgeous cushions...

Sinhala linen pillow covers in Bittersweet, buy here!
Do you remember this Ikea Norrsten Cabinet that
I jazzed up with a little DIY animal print lining?

Well in our new place here is Sydney it has found a new home in the informal dining area just off the kitchen (in our previous home it was in the living/formal dining area). Last week I purchased this 'Banks Mirror' from Freedom and this afternoon I had it hung (along with our cherished Narate Kathong painting which is now gracing the walls of the formal dining room down stairs)!

Banks Mirror from Freedom
It looks fabulous, gives the cabinet a new style and is a perfect fit with our dining table and floorboards. Once I create a vignette to go with the mirror (on top of the cabinet), I'll be back with a little show and tell :)

Besides the above, it's been a case of out with the old and in with the new in the Bouw household. Mr B has been helping me de-clutter and I have been selling up a storm on ebay (which is completely new to me!) to try and get rid of some bulky items we no longer want or have room for. And as a result the last week or so has seen us become the proud owners of a Weber BBQ, new kettle and coffee machine, new laptop and printer and a new ironing board... exciting stuff I know hee hee :)

Oh and I also purchased something funky for the toilet this afternoon (yes, the toilet!) but I'll save that for another post :) x

Mooza!

A year and a half after I posted about these babies, I finally purchased me a pair of these funky and fun male/female bathroom decor signs from Etsy Seller Mooza! They have heaps of different patterns and colours to choose from and can even custom make to suit your need. I should receive mine in the next few days so I'll be sure to let you know how they look... this is the pattern pairing I decided on...

Moroccan- blue- stripes
I thought the tones would go
 perfectly with the Missoni towels
that hang inside our powder room :)
And again :)
As well as these decor signs, Mooza also custom make words, names and numbers! Here are a few examples:

Going for gold!

Yesterday afternoon I picked up a copy of the latest Real Living magazine as my bloggy bestie Sally from Once.Daily.Chic was featured in an amazing six page spread! And although I already had a soft copy of the article, it wouldn't be right if I didn't see Sal (and her apartment) looking all gorgeous and glam in the paper flesh! What a great feature, well done Sal! :)

Whilst flicking through the feature 'Go glam, transform your home' on pages 54-59, I spotted the above Spaghetti Occasional Table from Freedom and knew immediately that I must have one if not two of these gold darlings! And with the price tag of $129 each, I was sold! They are a part of Freedoms new 'Limited edition' range so I also knew I had to snap them up quickly! I phoned my local store and as if it was fate they only had two left... I will pick them up later this afternoon!

I have been dreaming of injecting some gold into our new home for months now and these tables will make a beautiful start! Come to think of it I don't think we had any gold (furniture OR accessories) in our previous home so I am having fun gradually creating a space that is very different to out super modern 'white with pops of colour' apartment in KL. I guess that's one positive side of renting, you can experiment more with styles that you might not necessarily go with if it was your own home. I will wait until I have the tables home before I decide whether they will go in the lounge room or the master bedroom but I will be sure to keep you posted :)

Spaghetti Occasional Table
Limited Edition in gold, buy here!
Whilst I'm on the topic of gold... I am really considering paying my pal Louise from Table Tonic a visit to increase my Moroccan Pouffe collection from three to four! Seriously friends, I am not sure I will ever tire of them, I still love mine to bits! THE most versatile decor accessory I have ever purchased. And I am mega crushing on this one below...

Handmade Moroccan Faux Leather Pouffe
from Table Tonic. Buy here!

Anyway, I must be off and get myself out of my gym gear and into some proper clothes while my little lady sleeps! Have a great day :) x

My Weekend.

Yay for Friday! After having a house full of guests last weekend (which we did indeed love) we are looking forward to a slightly less hectic one this weekend! Shopping, some exercise and a small dinner party is what we have on the cards. Allegra accompanied me to both the florist and local fruit and veg store this morning to buy some beautiful and bright flowers for the table. And as you will see above, my little lady was also rather eager to help me set the table. She really is just so sweet :)

Ooh, and I now have my stunning gold Spaghetti Occasional Tables all set up in our master bedroom and I LURVE them! Perfection. Stay tuned for some pics next week :)

Have a great weekend! x

Hi there! So, it's not quite 100% finished but I did promise to give you a sneak peek of our master bedroom with the new bedside tables I posted about last week! Did I mention I am completely in love with them?! They really have added so much to the room and paired with my new Sinhala cushion covers and Sheridan throw, they have me smiling every time I walk through the door :)

Soooo, what do you think?! I know I'm smitten :)

Next on the list is finding something to go on the wall above the huge leather bed head!

On a separate note, my darling Allegra is 16 months old today... I really can't believe it! I'll be back with her monthly update later in the week! S x

The latest edition of Adore Magazine is now live and as always, Loni has done an amazing job of making sure it is chocka block full of inspiration and home decor goodness! And may I just slip in that my old dining room pops it's head up in the 'Delicious Dining' feature (see page 52) :)

I particularly loved the tour of Claudia Stephenson's Sydney home...

As well as the feature on Sydney based furniture designers Koskela! What a stunning showroom and I am particularly loving the gallery-styled space they have created to showcase some stunning pieces of art...

Just a little over two years ago I did a post on bar carts and it was only last week that I finally purchased one! I know they are very popular in the US but they are a little harder to come by here in Oz and I hadn't really seen many (or any for that matter) that were a reasonable price or that were to my taste.  So I was delighted when I saw this beauty was a new arrival in Ada and Darcy's online store and immediately added one to my cart and headed on over to checkout :) Introducing The Sedgewick...

The Sedgewick, buy here!

Just last week I blogged about introducing more gold accents into our current home so I will be loving this addition! The Sedgewick is going to look perfect in our downstairs formal dining room. The hard part? Waiting oh so patiently for it's late May delivery!

Have a great Tuesday! x

I am still feeling a little guilty about missing Allegra's 16 month update but hopefully this one makes up for it :) What can I tell you about Allegra this month?! She continues to be an absolute chatterbox, is expanding her vocabulary every day and even spoke her first proper sentence a few weeks ago which was 'Mumma this is a book' too cute and too clever is my little girl :) Although this is not to say that she isn't still speaking in her own alien language... it is honestly fascinating to listen too! I have included a video at the bottom of this post which you must watch! Gosh she makes me giggles. We recently started group singing/music classes and now Allegra makes me sing for her shouting 'more more' and applauds me after every verse... she certainly loves to be entertained! Allegra is already exhibiting a love for jewellery and accessories (which you will see in a few of the pics below) and loves dressing up herself and others. And as you will see in all of the pics, Allegra is so grown up now! Our little teething monster cut her last baby tooth a few weeks ago. I know, all 20 teeth at 17 months, insane! Anyway, as always I'll include my little captions with the following pics which were all taken over the passed couple of weeks :)

Showing off her new necklace :)
She looks so delicious in her
jim jams doesn't she?! :)
Such the poser :)
Looking rather cheeky in the
new PJ's that Daddy picked for her :)
Peaches and cream... delicious :)
Allegra sharing Daddy's lollipop!
Do you think he got it back?! hee hee
Allegra has graduated from crayons to

This was taken this morning...

old bangles I found packed away :)
Monkeying around :)
Allegra LOVES the park. It's now her
favourite word... park park park!
I adore kisses from my best girl xxx
THE cutest! :)
Allegra Isobel looking grown up and gorgeous
in her little trench coat :)

I had to include this photo one more time...
it is my new fav! Seriously, butter wouldn't
melt in her mouth :)

I might be biased but is she not the most beautiful little darling ever?! Love you Allegra! x

What's on for the weekend?! We have a breakfast date with some close girlfriends who are up in Sydney at the moment and I am getting my hair done tomorrow afternoon thank goodness... it is in desperate need of some pampering! As for Sunday, we don't have much planned at all... just the way I like it :)

Enjoy! x

An EXTRA special Mother's Day :)

I've been very quiet of late haven't I... well hopefully this post will explain a bit more :)

How were your Mother's Day celebrations?! Well I was lucky enough to have my Mum fly up from Melbourne on Friday night to spend the whole weekend here with us :) On Saturday we treated her to a massage at a local day spa before she had to put on her baby sitting hat... MR B and I had a party to attend on Saturday night so Mum gladly watched Allegra for us so we could get glammed up and have a night out (quite a rare occasion these days)! I was spoilt with some stunning jewellery (which you will see me wearing below) as well as a few other little goodies. We asked my Mum if there was anything in Sydney she wanted to see and she suggested Madam Tussauds! We hadn't been yet either so the four of us heading in early on Sunday morning, it was lots of fun and scary how life-like some of the recreations were! We had originally planned to go out for a late lunch on the Sunday, however, the weather was rather chilly with a real bite in the air so we decided to cosy up in side, pop on a movie and order take out instead :) Here are a few pics from our weekend :)

Sunshine on Mother's Day morning :)
As the party was on Saturday night, I got
my Mother's Day gifts a day

early so I could wear them :)
Here they are! Gorgeous right?! :)
My complete outfit!
And with my Mr B x
And again :)
Hello Mr President :)

Hee hee, Mum has a little crush on Mr Willis :)
Mr B and I with Brangelina!
Allegra adores her Nanny G :)
A cosy and relaxed dinner
 of pizza and pasta :)
Cosy cuddles with my girl x
AND the extra special news....
YES, you guessed it, I am pregnant with

Baby Bouw #2! This photo was taken on
Sunday, 2 days shy of 13 weeks :)

So besides being just busy with life in general, I have also been busy feeling rather lousy for the last 4- 6 weeks :( Allegra's pregnancy was quite smooth and I didn't experience many of the yukkies that come along with the first trimester... this bubba on the other hand had other plans for Mumma! I have only just started feeling (and looking) human again this last week which explains my absence. And I think looking after a 17 month old this time around definitely changed the landscape a little! We are very excited that we are finally able to shout our news from the rooftops :) I am 13 weeks pregnant today with bubba's expected due date being 20th November (the exact same due date as what Allegra had ~ unbelievable right)!

And if you weren't already sick of the obsessive (proud) Mumma in me than look out, because it's about to double :) I hope to share this pregnancy with you all and create a beautiful log for both myself and Baby Bouw #2 just as I did for Allegra :) And hello, it means I get to decorate a whole new nursery... yeeehaaaa! :)

I hope your Mother's Days were just as special as mine! Have a great week :) x

So... today is my Birthday! I have never been one to make much of my own Birthday (I'm more of a Christmas gal), however, the older I get the more I really do enjoy all the fuss :) It's been a pretty uneventful day so far (unless you count being woken up by one sick little darling throughout the early hours of the morning) but I do look forward to Mr B getting home a little early from work so I can unwrap all of my goodies (I already know I have been absolutely SPOILT *grin*) before I get spruced up and head out for a Birthday dinner date with Mr B! I'll pop back over the next few days to showoff share my Birthday treats with you all! I hope you have a wonderful day too :) x

Ok so I think I may have finally found my decor design mojo! You might remember that when I was pregnant with Allegra I was very enthusiastic about designing and creating a space for her that we would both love. Well I am most definitely the same the second time around... but... you will be disappointed to know that (just like with Allegra) we won't be sharing BB#2's gender when we do find out so that means any plans for the new nursery will remain under wraps... Sorry! hee hee

Allegra's current room will become BB's new nursery (it's closer to our room and much more practical) and we will be converting the current guest bedroom into Allegra's new big girls room! There are still too many goodies in Allegra's room to start from scratch so I will try and incorporate some old with some new. I have found a heap of divine items online that I am pretty sure I will be purchasing over the coming weeks (never fear, when I do I will definitely share) but for the time being I thought I would share a few images that have tickled my fancy and sent my decorating imagination running wild!

Yep, as you can see I am still loving colour colour and more colour! Perfect for a toddlers room :)

I have my babysitters inlaws arriving tomorrow morning for a week and they are itching for some 1:1 time with Allegra... hopefully the perfect opportunity for me to have some time to myself and start tackling projects around the house! I'm determined to keep this mojo burning! x

Ok so Allegra is now closer to 19 months than she is 18 months (I've been super slack ~ again!) BUT I just had to get this post in as 18 months (wow- a year and a half!) is I guess a little milestone. I pinch myself most days that this amazing little girl is mine. I am still in my element, every single day, as get to spend all my time with her. She is just so much fun to hang out with! You will see by the photos and video below that she continues to blossom into a gorgeous little person.
